Profile of Trevor Jones
Trevor Jones is the sole director of Trevor S. Jones Ltd. He is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, has a BSc in Quantity Surveying and an MSc in Construction Law and Arbitration. He graduated in 1976, and then gained considerable experience in the Construction Industry working for leading Quantity Surveying Practices and National Building and Civil Engineering Contractors in the UK during the period 1976-1987. Thereafter Trevor has worked through his own companies for a variety of clients on a wide range of small, medium, large and very large projects such as the New Wembley Stadium.
He has worked on Housing, Schools, Hospitals, Offices, Petrol Filling Stations, Retail Parks, Leisure Complexes, Sports Stadia, Pier Construction Work, Harbour Refurbishments, Urban Redevelopments, Reservoirs, Water Treatment Works and Canal Works etc.Whilst working on such projects he has encountered various forms of contract including various forms of JCT, ICE, I Chem E, GC Works Contracts and various standard subcontracts and bespoke subcontracts and sub-subcontracts. In addition he has also gained experience of various Methods of Measurement including SMM5, SMM6 and SMM7, MMRB and CESMM 1, CESMM2 and CESMM3.
As an employee in Private Practice his experience included Approximate Estimating, Cost Planning, Preparation of Pre-Contract Documentation, Tender Evaluation, Feasibility Studies, Cost Advice, Expenditure Forecasting, Situation Reporting, Interim Valuations, Accounting, Claim Investigation and Quantification.
During his employment with National Building and Civil Engineering Contractors he gained experience in Estimating, Interim Applications, Accounting, Cost / Value Reconciliation, Sub-Contract Buying, Sub-Contract Administration, Claim Preparation / Negotiation, Analysis and Negotiation of Sub-Contractor Claims and Supplier Claims.
More recently Trevor has been increasingly involved in Formal Dispute Resolution. He has acted as Adjudicator and has been involved in the preparation of cases in Adjudication Proceedings for both Referring Parties and Responding Parties. Increasingly he has been involved in the Negotiation of Settlement Agreements as parties become increasingly aware of the benefits of such agreements and the potentially large costs associated with Formal Dispute Resolution.
